In this matter, Dan, I believe you should retain the ambiguous <u> and  
write <kussel>~<cussel>. We do write <cùssul>. Also the /y/ comes back  
in the final syllable in derived forms (cùssulya not cùsselya) so the  
ending should be {-ul>.
